Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2012
I arrived in York early on Sunday the 11th November to watch a screening of my short film LOW. I've been before but totally forgot what a really beautiful city it is! The screening went fine, there was a small audience, and my film looked a little dark on account of being degraded to fit the technical specifications of HD (it's an SD film). Anyway, that aside I'm proud it was selected.
One of the highlights for me (besides being nominated in the Best Drama category) was watching HOLLOW by Rob Sorrenti (which later, deservedly won the People's Choice award). Even though I was sat on a beanbag watching this film (not too comfortable) I was totally drawn into this beautifully acted and directed story.
In fact, I was genuinely impressed by the selection and variety of films on offer throughout the whole festival from international and home-grown talent.
There aren't enough short film festivals in the North that celebrate the artform of short filmmaking, SO Aesthetica is one that I would definitely recommend submitting to and visiting in the future. And, in between watching films you get to enjoy a really beautiful city!
